Eldorado Canyon State Park
Eldorado Canyon State Park lies about nine miles south of Boulder in Eldorado Springs, Colorado, and is one of the top climbing destinations in the United States, with more than 500 technical climbing routes. The park also offers hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fishing for brown and rainbow trout in South Boulder Creek, and picnicking along the creek. Trails range from the easy Fowler Trail to the 3.6-mile Rattlesnake Gulch Trail, which passes historic hotel ruins and a Continental Divide overlook. From May 1 through October 1, timed vehicle reservations are required on weekends and summer holidays; reservations are made in advance through cpwshop.com and cannot be booked at the park.
